STANDARD WORLDS - HISC - Day 2 - Tuesday
Two more races completed in very difficult conditions. It was mainly a day for limiting mistakes and scoring consistent results. With four races completed a discard is now allowed and this is flavouring the overall standings. All the leading helms have recorded a bad score, which they have used as their discard. The exception is Paul Goodison, who's worst result is a 9th place. He is currently lying in 4th place with Nick Thompson in 6th place - Eddie - 01/09/10

ATTENTION - LASER 4.7 SAILORS
The 3rd of the United 4 events is to be held at Workum in the Nederlands on the 4th & 5th September. This would be an ideal opportunity to compete at the venue of next year’s Laser 4.7 uropeans. This event caters for a number of other classes so expect 250 plus sailors. You need to book accommodation asap. www.united4sailing.org
I need an indication of how many Laser 4.7 sailors would support non-squad winter training, I need to gauge the numbers and their spread around the country, please contact me @ lismarineeng@btinternet.com - Mike Lis - 16/08/10
YOUNG RADIAL SAILORS - This is for you!
Radial sailors that will be no more than 17 years of age next year, 2011.
The Laser 4.7 Worlds are at San Francisco 26 -2 August and the Europeans are to be held at Workun in the Nederlands 6 – 14 July. You could qualify as part of the team that represents the UKLA at these events. I feel that a team made up of a broader age and experience group would be a benefit to the overall team. The qualifying dates will be posted as soon as they are confirmed, I shall post them on this page with a reminder. Winter period training for non squad sailors is being put in place at this time around the country all will be welcome to join in.
If you are interested please contact me, Mike Lis, at lismarineeng@btinternet.com

VOLVO ISAF WORLD YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS - FINAL REPORT
After what had been a tricky week of weather the final races were sailed in good conditions. Cameron was one of 8 helms who were black flagged in the final race and, with this as his worst result it had to be his discard. The net result was that having had two Top 10 results he still slipped back to 16th out of 50.
Sophie also had two Top Ten results but a couple of middle of the fleet results that she had to count meant that she finished in 13th place out of 46 boats.
Hard luck on both of them as they are much better than this week would indicate. Full results through title link. - Eddie (17/07/10)

KIEL WEEK
It has been a week of frustration for the Laser sailors at this year's Kiel Week. To date only three races have been completed and it finishes tomorrow. There is no British interest in the Radial class. In the Standard rig Paul & Nick are not competing. The best British helm is Robert Godwin in 16th place but all the helms are tightly packed and a couple of good races could see a significant upward movement. (22/06/10)
