The UKLA are deeply sadden to learn of the Death of Martin Boatman
A coach who touched so many Laser sailors lives, the out pouring of emotion has been tremendous, a huge loss not only to the sport of sailing. A truly special man.

Statement from Jeff's wife: Angie and Charlie Martin, Jeff's widow and son, would like to thank everyone who has sent such kind words of sympathy to them, following Jeff's death. Unfortunately, although Jeff's body is returning home from France this week, the French authorities will not allow cremation until their investigations are complete and the cause of death determined. There will therefore be some delay until details of his funeral can be finalised.
As soon as the funeral arrangements are made we will, of course, let you all know.

The dates for 2021 are 6th / 7th February..

EIGHT BELLS - Jeff Martin
All the Laser family is shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Jeff Martin on 11 January 2019 while on a ski holiday with family and friends.

Jeff's dedication to the sport of sailing was unparalleled, having served as the Executive Secretary of the International Laser Class Association for 40 years. Jeff was a cornerstone of Laser events, having worked at every Laser Open World Championship except the first one in 1974 where he was a competitor.

The loss of Jeff Martin will be keenly felt throughout the sailing world and our deepest condolences go out to Jeff's family and friends.
I meet myself Jeff Martin for the first time at the 1980 Laser Worlds in Kingston.

Lsser 4.7 Ladder 7 and Qualifier 2
Online entry is now open for this event.

The 2020 RYA Youth Profiling will take place on the 1st and 2nd February.

The 2019 British Laser 4.7 Qualifier season is approaching.....
The Laser 4.7 is a phenomenal success story of junior and youth one design dinghy sailing. In recent years it has consistently been the largest Junior/Youth fleet at a World Championships. The Class’s first World Championships were held in 2002 in Holland, in 2018 there were 430 sailors competing in the Worlds in Poland and over 300 sailors competing in the Europeans in Greece. The universality of the Laser is no doubt a major part of the Class’s success globally and just as with the Optimist Class, the Laser 4.7 has a huge following of sailors, parents, coaches and merchants invested in it’s success.

The sign up for RYA Youth Profiling closed at midnight last night.
However, due to a large number of sailors who have missed the deadline they have re-opened sign up for 24 hours. It will then be closed again tomorrow at 9am. This is the final chance for sailors to sign up to profiling. Please remember that you will only need to attend profiling if you wish to apply for a Youth Squad place in 2019.
