About the UKLA

The ILCA truly is the boat for all ages. Whether you’re a junior about to embark on an adventure in the ILCA 4 (4.7), right up to over 75 legendary Master sailor, no other adult class is raced in more countries in the world. The ILCA is a massive class, ranging from grassroots all the way up to Olympic sailors and we are lucky enough in the UK to have a thriving scene on both. We are the UKLA.

Why join the UKLA?

Annual membership is £38 per sailor with a £10 discount for each additional sailor from the same family .

  • Ability to race in top quality events from local open meetings to world championships.

  • Gybe Year Book magazine talking about all things ILCA delivered to your door. Example here.

  • Monthly UKLA newsletters about events, new offers and more.

  • Ability to attend many of the UKLA-run training sessions.

  • Up to 12% off Noble Marine insurance.

  • 10% off spars through Sailingfast online

  • As well as many more latest offers and deals from our partners!

Buying an ILCA may be the smart move sailing-wise but why bother with joining the Association? For someone wanting to race at Open Meetings, Grand Prix events, World & European Qualifier events, Master's events and Championships, membership is required in order to take part. For the non-racer there are numerous discounts offered from our partners, not least, the 10% from Noble Insurance for your boat insurance.

The class also publishes a coloured magazine called Gybe Year Book with lots of photographs, articles and tips. There is also ILCA World, the magazine of ILCA, which can be viewed on line.

We also send out monthly email newsletters, together with any special offers we receive from our sponsors.

We have class specific open training for the ILCA 6 (Radial) and ILCA 4 (4.7), organised by training officer Tim Hulse, which is very well attended and successful. Our training officer can also help your club to lay on specialised ILCA training days with a local recommended coach.
